Basketball Game Preview: Okolona Chieftains vs. West Point Green Wave

Okolona and West Point are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Okolona knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully West Point likes a good challenge.

West Point better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Okolona really get things going. Okolona blew past Smithville 64-39 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Chieftains have posted since January 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, West Point came up short against Clarksdale on Friday and fell 56-43. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Okolona has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
