            Softball Recap: Amundsen Vikings vs. Niles West Wolves        
        
		
        
        
            Amundsen hadn't done well against Niles West recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Friday. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves, sneaking past  5-3. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered  a  15-0  defeat the last time these two teams met.

 Allie Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Ashley Ellevog was  excellent,  going 3-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in May of 2024.  Kate Frey was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and one  run.
 Amundsen  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niles West struck out seven times.
Amundsen's victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for Niles West,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 10-16.
 Coming up, Amundsen will square off against Saint Viator at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Niles West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
