Baseball Recap: Grafton Has No Trouble Against Elkins

It was a proper cat-fight when Grafton duked it out with Elkins on Thursday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 win. This was a revenge game for the Bearcats: when they faced off against the Tigers last Saturday, they had to take a 14-10 loss.

Grafton got a massive performance out of Carter Gillespie, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Gillespie is becoming a predictor of the Bearcats' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-2 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chace Kinsey, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Grafton now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Elkins, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Grafton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Fairmont Senior on the 25th. As for Elkins, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-4 victory against Pendleton County on the 25th.
