Football Recap: Eron Mallard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Perry

After losing to Perry the last time they met, Benedictine decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cadets were the clear victors by a 41-17 margin over the Panthers on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24-3.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benedictine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eron Mallard, who picked up 138 receiving yards and two scores. Those 138 receiving yards gave Mallard a new career-high. Joshua Washington was another key player, gaining 138 total yards and a touchdown.

Benedictine's run defense was locked in: Perry could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Jayden Houston for the heroic effort on defense: he. Benedictine's ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Benedictine's defense also made the game a nightmare for Reid Ginn, racking up seven sacks. Isaac Scott led the group effort, picking up 2.5 of those sacks all by himself. Bubba Frazier got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Perry took the loss, they still got scores from Kam Oliver and Castor Engelbach.

Benedictine's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Perry, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
