Softball Recap: Gorham Fayette Eagles vs. Edon Bombers

Sadly, Gorham Fayette is still looking for their first win of the season after six matchups. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 18-8 walloping at the hands of the Edon Bombers on Monday. One positive for Gorham Fayette, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Gorham Fayette got a big performance out of Aysha Shade, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Zoie Brown was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Gorham Fayette was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with five doubles. That's the most doubles they've managed all season.

On Edon's side, Lydia Tracey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Tracey has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Tracey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alexis Breier was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adison Briner, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Gorham Fayette's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Edon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-9.

Gorham Fayette will head out on the road to square off against Pettisville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gorham Fayette is facing Pettisville at the right time seeing as Pettisville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Edon, they will be playing at home against Stryker at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Edon's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Stryker has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
