Preview: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Lancaster Baptist Eagles
Vasquez has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lancaster Baptist Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Vasquez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
Vasquez posted their biggest win since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Santa Clarita Christian 73-31 at home.
Kristopher Horton was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Horton is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Noah Rowley was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Lancaster Baptist's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 82-34 loss at the hands of Faith Baptist. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lancaster Baptist has suffered since November 20, 2023.
Vasquez has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Lancaster Baptist, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Vasquez against Lancaster Baptist when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 75-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vasquez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
