Basketball Game Preview: Culver Academies Eagles vs. Culver Community Cavaliers

Culver Academies has gone 7-2 against Culver Community recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Culver Academies Eagles will square off against the Culver Community Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Culver Academies is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mishawaka Marian 69-36. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Knights are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Culver Academies' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Piper Brumm, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Brumm a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Herron, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Culver Community had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Bobcats 62-37. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 25 points or more this season.

Culver Community now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Culver Academies, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Everything went Culver Academies' way against Culver Community in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as Culver Academies made off with a 39-19 win. Will Culver Academies repeat their success, or does Culver Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
