Soccer Game Preview: Royal vs. Navasota

The Royal Falcons will square off against the Navasota Rattlers at 6:05 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a seven-game winning streak alive.

If Navasota heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Royal took over last week. Royal had just enough and edged Harmony School of Innovation out 3-2 on Monday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 717th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jerson Perez and Eskary Rosas scored all three of Royal's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 32 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Navasota). They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over New Waverly on Tuesday. The Rattlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by five goals or more this season.

Royal's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those four games. As for Navasota, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
