Mountain Ridge has gone 9-1 against Pinnacle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions will host the Pioneers at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mountain Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Valley Vista on Friday as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The Mountain Lions have beaten the Monsoon the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Monsoon has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Joe Forbes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. EJ Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Mountain Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle won against Higley on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Pioneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Horizon. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since May 2, 2024.
Alex Korbesmeyer looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Erik Moo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Pinnacle: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 6-7-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Bullard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Pinnacle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Mountain Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Pinnacle in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 6-3. Do the Mountain Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
