Football Recap: Harlem Huskies vs. Guilford Vikings

Harlem took a 26-point loss the last time they faced off against Guilford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies slipped by the Vikings 7-6 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Hari Young had another great game (as she tends to do), rushing for 135 yards and one score on only 11 carries. She has become a key player for Harlem: the team is 7-1 when she posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Harlem's defense and their three sacks. Hailey Murath was especially locked on to Guilford's QB and sacked her twice. Murath is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as she's now made five or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Harlem's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Guilford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Harlem is set to square off against their familiar foe Freeport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Huskies 12.3, the Pretzels 9.4) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Guilford will challenge rival Jacobs at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
