League recap: Velma-Alma scores huge upset over Empire

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Velma-Alma, who took down 176th ranked Empire, 20-7. Dallen Mercer ran for 224 yards in the win.

Ringling extended the longest winning streak in A District 4 this week by beating Bray-Doyle, 55-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Blue Devils.

Jacob Brooks was the best wideout in the league this week as Wilson fell to Walters. Brooks tallied one reception for 28 yards. Layne McClanahan helped Wilson's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.

Andrew McGuire put up the best numbers through the air as the Comets bested the Bulldogs. He finished with five completions for 35 yards. McGuire's favorite target this week was Checotah Lynn, who caught three passes for 18 yards.

Velma-Alma's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Comets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ty Richardson has thrown for 538 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Austin Dennis has 10 catches for 275 yards. Mercer leads the league in rushing with 1506 yards.

A big matchup in A District 4 this week will be when Healdton takes on Velma-Alma. At the moment, the Bulldogs are in fourth, while Greg Gothard's team is in second.

Ringling took down the Donkeys 55-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
