Baseball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

Cherokee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Waukomis, falling 18-6. Cherokee was not able to make up for their defeat to Waukomis from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Tyson Ream made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. Gavin Guffy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Cherokee's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Waukomis, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Cherokee will be playing in front of their home fans against Laverne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Waukomis, they will head out to take on Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
