Mineral Point proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 17) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Cuba City Cubans 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Pointers: when they faced off against the Cubans on Thursday, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Mineral Point is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cuba City, with the loss, they broke their 14-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-2.

Mineral Point and Cuba City should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Pointers (ranked 86th) will meet Southwestern (ranked 265th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Mineral Point's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Cuba City will face off against Iowa-Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 147).
