Basketball Recap: Williams Vikings vs. Basis Yeti

The Basis Yeti typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Williams Vikings proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Yeti with a 67-63 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Williams.

Nickoli Cody continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Cody Payne was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Despite the loss, Basis still got an impressive performance from Jack Engelthaler, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 58.7% of Basis' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Ferguson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Williams is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Basis, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.

Williams will head out on the road to square off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Basis, they will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Michael will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
