The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to J.P. McCaskey 60-54.
When it comes to explaining why Lampeter-Strasburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chase Smucker. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Smucker's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Justin Glick, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lampeter-Strasburg's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for J.P. McCaskey, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lampeter-Strasburg and Lancaster Catholic will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lancaster Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Lampeter-Strasburg is ranked 226th). As for J.P. McCaskey, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Harrisburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023.
