Baseball Recap: Gaylesville Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Gaylesville brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They put the hurt on the Jacksonville Christian Academy Thunder with a sharp 14-8 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Allmond was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Cole Hendon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Karrson Ray was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Gaylesville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville Christian Academy struck out nine times.

Gaylesville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gaylesville will venture away from home to challenge Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Faith Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
