Basketball Game Preview: Davenport Broncos vs. East River Falcons

The Davenport Broncos will face off against the East River Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Davenport is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Victory Christian Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Davenport lost 59-39 to Victory Christian Academy. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, East River entered their tilt with Innovation on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by the Bulls to the tune of 63-25. The matchup marked the Falcons' most dominant win of the season.

East River found their leader in sophomore Boooklyn O'Gallagher, who posted 40 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which O'Gallagher has scored at least a third of East River's points. Hallie Afoon was another key player, putting up eight points.

East River's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Davenport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Davenport lost to East River at home by a decisive 65-48 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of O'Gallagher, who had 44 points. Now that Davenport knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
