Baseball Recap: St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Takes a Loss

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it seven. They came up short against the University School of Milwaukee Wildcats, falling 13-6. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Schroettner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Connor McDonald also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for University School of Milwaukee, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Considering they have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On University School of Milwaukee's side, Will Reese made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Reese has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, University School of Milwaukee got a massive performance out of Augie Baum, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Brock Miller was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will take on St. Anthony at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers are facing the Roman Legion at the right time seeing as the Roman Legion are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for University School of Milwaukee, they will challenge Catholic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.88 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
