Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gig Harbor). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Lakes Lancers on Wednesday. The Tides' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Nathan Cheek looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Payne, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Porras, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

Gig Harbor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Gig Harbor's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lakes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gig Harbor will face off against Port Angeles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tides are facing the Roughriders at the right time seeing as the Roughriders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lakes, they will square off against Steilacoom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
