Baseball Recap: Wagoner Comes Up Short

Wagoner managed to slip by Verdigris the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs came up short against the Cardinals on Tuesday, falling 13-4.

Stavery James was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Wagoner is 2-1 when James posts three or more RBI, but 9-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Hopping, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Wagoner now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Verdigris, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Wagoner will head out to challenge Skiatook at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Skiatook's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Wagoner's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Verdigris, they will take on Oologah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
