Softball Recap: Carbon Hill Takes a Loss

If Carbon Hill was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Dora on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 10-5 to the Haleyville Lions on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Bulldogs' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

AnnaLynne Dutton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Brittany Parker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Carbon Hill has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-20 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Haleyville, their win ended a 26-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-18.

Looking ahead, Carbon Hill will take on Lynn at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Haleyville, they will venture away from home to take on Dora at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
