Baseball Recap: Windward Comes Up Short

Windward extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 11-11 in the process. They came up short against the Paraclete Spirits, falling 12-5. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly seven runs.

As for Paraclete, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.

For Paraclete's part, Anthony Hernandez looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Antonio Longobardi, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Paraclete's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 9-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Abraham Perez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Windward will take on Oxford Academy at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Paraclete, they will square off against South Pasadena at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
