Softball Recap: Crest Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Crest won the last time they faced McDowell and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chargers walked away with a 5-2 win over the Titans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Aidan Ledbetter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Lail, who fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Zoi Richardson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Crest pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for McDowell, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6.

Coming up, Crest will venture away from home to challenge North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for McDowell, they will face off against North Buncombe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.1, the Black Hawks 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
