Preview: Astoria Fishermen vs. Combs Coyotes

The Astoria Fishermen will be home for the holidays to greet the Combs Coyotes at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Astoria will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Astoria at home against Corbett as the team secured a 72-32 victory. Given Astoria's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Corbett is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Combs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Marcos de Niza 63-57. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Combs has scored all season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Logan Tuckfield, who scored 16 points. He scored a full 28.1% of Combs' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jae Lujan, who scored 17 points.

Even though they lost, Combs were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marcos de Niza only racked up 20 assists.

Astoria's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Combs, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3.
