Basketball Recap: Indian Land Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Indian Land hadn't done well against Catawba Ridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Indian Land Warriors took down the Catawba Ridge Copperheads 50-36. The 50-point effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Indian Land found their leader in sophomore Sequel Patterson, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Jones, who posted 12 points.

Several Copperheads players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Peters, who had 12 points. Mark Caslaru was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

The victory was the third in a row for Indian Land, bringing their record for this year to 15-1. As for Catawba Ridge, they moved to 8-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Indian Land will face off against Clover at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian Land is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66 points per game this season. As for Catawba Ridge, they will welcome Nation Ford at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Nation Ford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Catawba Ridge likes a good challenge.
