Softball Recap: West-Oak Warriors vs. Fountain Inn Fury
West-Oak saw some tournament action on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Fountain Inn Fury. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Abi Blackwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Blackwell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Allie Keith and Kylie Perkins did most of the damage at the plate: Keith went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Perkins went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brylee Whitfield, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
West-Oak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fountain Inn only posted a batting average of .053.
West-Oak's record now sits at 2-0. As for Fountain Inn, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Looking ahead, West-Oak will host Wren at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fountain Inn, they will venture away from home to square off against Travelers Rest at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
