Softball Recap: Ukiah Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Ukiah had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Montgomery Vikings. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 12-1 win back in April.

Taylor Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaloni Brown and Ann Marie Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Kaloni went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Ann Marie went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mokee James, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ukiah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Ukiah is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Montgomery, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-15.

As of now, neither Ukiah nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
