            Softball Recap: Dodd City Hornets vs. Saltillo Lions        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dodd City had no problem doing just that  on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by  an  11-5 margin over the Saltillo Lions. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Hornets this season.
 Kelsey Hewett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  tossed seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and one unearned) runs off   nine  hits. Hewett was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  run.

 In other batting news,  Sierra Garcia was  incredible,  going 4-for-5 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Ralyn Daniel, who  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double.
With the  victory, Dodd City broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-14. As for Saltillo,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Dodd City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  on Saturday.
