Basketball Recap: Kearns Triumphs

Kearns won the last time they faced Granger, and Ava Tupou did her part to make sure it happened again. The Kearns Cougars came out on top against the Granger Lancers by a score of 40-27 on Friday thanks in part to Tupou, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Lia Benson, who posted five points along with ten boards and five assists. She has become a key player for Kearns: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 6-8 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Granger lost, don't look at Pianola Tuaone. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Tuaone a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%).

Kearns' win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Granger, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Kearns didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-60 defeat against Taylorsville on the 4th. As for Granger, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-28 loss against West Jordan on the 4th.
