Baseball Recap: Ceres Takes a Loss

Ceres fell victim to Central Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Mario Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Ceres' loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Central Valley beat Ceres by a score of 9-1 on Thursday.
