Recap: Rickards Raiders vs. Chiles Timberwolves
The Rickards Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Chiles 78-35 on the road. Given Rickards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Chiles is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Genesis Henry, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jariyah Jordan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Chiles lost, one person who can't be blamed is Faith Durden. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with two steals. That was a full 45.7% of Chiles' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chiles struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rickards pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.
Rickards' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Chiles, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rickards will take on Godby at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Godby is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Chiles, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Madison County at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Madison County is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
