Basketball Recap: R-S Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Polk County last Tuesday, R-S Central came back down to earth. The R-S Central Hilltoppers were dealt an 81-34 defeat at the hands of the Hendersonville Bearcats on Friday. The contest marked the Hilltoppers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Hendersonville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martiste Mills, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points and five steals. Mills has become a key player for Hendersonville: the team is 17-4 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Jaylon Wynn was another key player, going 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

R-S Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Hendersonville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

R-S Central will head out on the road to face off against Shelby at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelby will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something R-S Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hendersonville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bearcats duke it out with the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hendersonville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.1 points per game this season.
