Basketball Recap: Corsean Phillippi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln Northwest over Aurora

Lincoln Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 51-40 to the Aurora Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Huskies are ranked 24th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Corsean Phillippi, who posted seven points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Phillippi now owns an excellent 50% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Roman Stepanyuk, who had 12 points and six boards.

Lincoln Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Aurora, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Coming up, Lincoln Northwest will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lincoln Christian at 7:00 p.m. As for Aurora, they will head out to square off against Crete at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Crete has won eight straight at home, while Aurora won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
