Basketball Recap: Key West's Losing Streak Snapped at 26 Games

Key West had to endure a 26-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 48-36 win over the Coral Shores Hurricanes on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Conchs: when they faced off against the Hurricanes last Friday, they had to take a 50-38 defeat.

Key West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damarla Thompson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Greene, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points.

Coral Shores lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grace Leffler, who went 7 for 16 en route to 17 points and eight boards. Alex Burson was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Key West's win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-10. As for Coral Shores, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Key West will square off against Westminster Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coral Shores, they will challenge Varsity Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
