Soccer Game Preview: Batavia vs. Wheaton North

The Batavia Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Wheaton North Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wheaton North better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Batavia's game on Saturday is any indication, that's when Batavia really gets things going. The Bulldogs' defense stepped up to hand West Chicago a 3-0 shutout. Batavia have beaten West Chicago the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest West Chicago has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Wheaton North entered their tilt with Bolingbrook on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Raiders. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Wheaton North's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Bolingbrook are ranked 222nd).

Wheaton North's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Batavia, the win got them back to even at 4-4-1.

Batavia might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Wheaton North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
