Basketball Recap: Taliyah Jackson and Rease Murtaugh Secure Win for Papillion-Lavista

After losing to Bellevue West the last time they met, Papillion-LaVista decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs came out on top against the Bellevue West Thunderbirds by a score of 75-62 on Thursday.

Leading Papillion-LaVista to victory were Rease Murtaugh and Taliyah Jackson. Murtaugh dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards, while Jackson went 7 of 11 on her way to 22 points. The game was Murtaugh's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Richardson, who posted 12 points.

Bellevue West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Da?Nyla Tatum, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Yirah Sears, who put up 12 points.

Papillion-LaVista's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Bellevue West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Papillion-LaVista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-56 win against Omaha Westside on the 13th. As for Bellevue West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-40 victory against Lincoln East on the 13th.
