Wesleyan Christian Academy took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 63-40 margin over the Covenant Day Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wesleyan Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blythe Cunningham, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 17 points and three steals. Cunningham is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Adaobi Nwobu, who posted nine points and six steals.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Houseton, who shot 50% from the field en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Charlotte Hall was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Covenant Day's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Wesleyan Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-30 victory against North Raleigh Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Covenant Day, they will venture away from home to face off against Ambassador Christian School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
