Baseball Recap: Banks Victorious

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Banks and Valley Catholic have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Braves came out on top against the Valiants by a score of 5-2. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Valiants recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Trever Vanderzanden looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Banks is 2-1 when Vanderzanden allows one or fewer hits, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Banks' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cris Medina, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Banks' victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Valley Catholic, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Banks is set to challenge their familiar foe Westside Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Valley Catholic will square off against rival Horizon Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
