The Switzerland County Pacers will face off against the Rising Sun Shiners at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Switzerland County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Switzerland County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past New Washington 8-2. The Pacers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Roman Hite made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Cooper Todd was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jackson Sparks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Rising Sun was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They came up short against South Ripley, falling 9-2. The contest marked the Shiners' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Rising Sun saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DJ Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Rising Sun's defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Switzerland County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Rising Sun's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Switzerland County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Rising Sun, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Switzerland County's hitters?
Switzerland County was able to grind out a solid win over Rising Sun in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Pacers repeat their success, or do the Shiners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
