Baseball Recap: The Classical Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

There's no place like home for The Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Sand Creek Scorpions on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won eight matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Luke Cupples tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, The Classical Academy let David St Marie and Zack Hale run wild. St Marie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Hale went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave St Marie a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CJ Mullen, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sand Creek only posted an OBP of .381.

The Classical Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sand Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

The Classical Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Scorpions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
