Recap: Montpelier Solons vs. Lamoille Lancers
The Montpelier Solons had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 80-47 win over Lamoille. Montpelier has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Leading Montpelier to victory were Carson Cody and Clayton Foster. Cody scored 21 points along with two steals, while Foster scored 14 points along with six assists and five steals. Cody has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Atif Milak, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Montpelier's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points per game. As for Lamoille, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Montpelier will head out on the road to square off against Harwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Vermont (Harwood is ranked 25th, while Montpelier is ranked 11th). As for Lamoille, they will be playing at home against Peoples Academy at 9:46 a.m. on Wednesday. Peoples Academy is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
