Volleyball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Takes a Loss

Montezuma-Cortez lost against Centauri back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Montezuma-Cortez ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 14 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 22-25, 16-14.

TessaMercedes Jackson paced Montezuma-Cortez's offense, picking up 12 kills. Jackson got some help from Addison Sopha and her 19 assists. Hayden Matthias controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Montezuma-Cortez's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Centauri, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Montezuma-Cortez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Pagosa Springs on the 30th. As for Centauri, they will take on Sanford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
