Football Recap: Natomas Comes Up Short Despite Ty'quan Howard's Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

Natomas extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 26-21 heartbreaker at the hands of the Woodland Wolves. That's two games in a row now that the Nighthawks have lost by exactly five points.

When it comes to explaining why Natomas lost, don't look at Adrian Sanders-Muniz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 18 yards and one TD, and also caught one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Natomas' defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. In that department, Ty'Quan Howard was the leader with two.

Woodland's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Joe Abarca had an outrageously good game as he threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt. Those 304 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Coming up, Natomas will challenge Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Nighthawks will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Woodland, they will square off against Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
