Softball Recap: Valmeyer Comes Up Short

Valmeyer extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 15-0 to the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 12-0 to the Meteors when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Marissa/Coulterville, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Meteors, who have now won three games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

For Marissa/Coulterville's part, Analiese Howell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, Howell is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marissa/Coulterville got a massive performance out of Kennedy Trieb, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Trieb a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayla Ranck, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

While Valmeyer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
