Recap: Denver North Vikings vs. Holy Family Tigers

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Denver North Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 50-8 loss at the hands of Holy Family on Friday. Denver North was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-8.

Frankie Dardano threw for 155 yards on 19 of 28 attempts. Jack Gordon was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards. On the ground, Michael Vann rushed for 30 yards.

It was another big night for Rylan Cooney, who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 167 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. Cooney was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.

Holy Family's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Landon Peters was especially locked on to Denver North's QB and sacked him twice.

Denver North's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Holy Family, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Denver North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holy Family will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Lewis-Palmer is ranked 45th, while Holy Family is ranked 25th).
