Walled Lake Western lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Milford, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Warriors put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 17-5 victory on Thursday. 17 seems to be a good number for the Warriors as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Maddie Farrand made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since May 7th.
In other batting news, Maddi Bancroft was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sierra Geisler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Walled Lake Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only posted an OBP of .400.
Walled Lake Western pushed their record up to 9-19 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Milford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13.
