Softball Recap: North's Losing Streak Snapped at 11 Games

North came into Friday's match having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Mira Costa Mustangs 11-1 on Friday. The Saxons not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024 (when they won 14-0).

Isis Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Melinda Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gloria Gamboa was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

North's record is now 7-20. As for Mira Costa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-17.

Coming up, North will head out on the road to take on West at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Saxons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mira Costa, they will venture away from home to square off against Redondo Union at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sea Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
