Softball Recap: Maryville Has No Trouble Against William Blount

Maryville lost a heartbreaker the last time they played William Blount, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Red Rebels put the hurt on the Governors with a sharp 8-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Red Rebels, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sadie Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Allie Watson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reilly Saunders, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Maryville and bumps their season record up to 13-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for William Blount, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12.

As of now, neither Maryville nor the Governors have any future games scheduled.
