Basketball Recap: Idalia Comes Up Short

Idalia came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs 59-30. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Idalia lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kolby Morris, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Chase Goddard was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-12 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds for Haxtun. Goddard has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Ryland Wolff was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Idalia's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Haxtun, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Idalia will host Stratton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Haxtun, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-49 win against Caliche on the 15th.
