Baseball Recap: Loyalton Comes Up Short

Loyalton and Mt. Shasta faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Thursday. The Loyalton Grizzlies fell just short of the Mt. Shasta Bears by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Grizzlies have lost by just one run.

Thor Corcoran put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Corcoran wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Holland, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Loyalton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mt. Shasta, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, Loyalton will take on Portola at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mt. Shasta, they will challenge Hamilton at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
